WRITING

KATTAS

The Katta’s are a strange type of monkeys. They are part of the family of the Lemurs which are a type of small primates that live in Madagascar. They have been lots of different types of Lemur’s before, but most of them are extinct because people there destroy their habitat.
Katta’s are quiet small (about forty cm) but their tail is much longer than their body (fifty-five cm) and it’s colored with white and black stripes. That’s maybe the most popular thing about them. They are grey and their belly and face is white but some parts of their body(the ears, for example) are black or white. They have really big eyes (brown or green) which make them look a little bit strange but really cute.
They live together in little groups (about fifteen animals). The females of the group dominate the rest of the group. The females are fighting with each other (scratching, jumping and biting) but the males are making strange odor competitions, that means that the one that smells worse than the other one wins. In general, their whole communication system is based on odors.
Lemurs usually eat fruits they fid on the trees where they live, but they also eat different things which they find on the ground. In some cases, a group of Lemurs broke into a human’s house and stole all the food they found and destroyed the whole house.
Lemurs are really lazy animals, they spend the most of their time sleeping or looking for places to sleep. I think that’s why I like them so much: their just like me!
